What is Kenya ETA?

The Republic of Kenya ETA is an electronic authorisation from the Government issued in PDF format. It is the equivalent to a visa, but no stamp or label is placed in the passport. The ETA is an entry requirement to travel to and within Kenya for any of the following reasons:

  • Tourism

  • Business

  • Meeting friends/relatives

  • Medical treatment

  • Transit

Expiry day

Kenya e-Tourist Visa, e-Business Visa, and e-Medical Visa are valid for 90 days with a single entry and a maximum stay of 90 days.

Kenya e-Transit Visa is issued based on your flight ticket for transit within 72 hours in Kenya.


After receiving the Kenya ETA by email, you can travel to Kenya immediately.

However, after that, you must print it out and present to get the stamp on your passport at the Immigration Counter in Kenya. It is very important, especially for Visa on Arrival (VOA).

Document requirements for Kenya ETA 

1. Applicant's photo must be colorful, 2 inches X 2 inches and taken within 6 months.

2. Applicant’s scanned passport must contain all personal particulars.

3. Applicant’s detailed information must have the names of your parents and your spouse (if married), your address and phone number.
